Sometimes you just need a break…

Some times you just need a break in a beautiful place, via Aphrodite's World

* Except I’m taking a break so that I am not alone, and can spend time with my lovely friends and family!

Every now and then, when things get a little bit hectic, you have to step back and take a look at the things that matter to you. Juggling too many balls at the same time can be exhausting and means that you can’t pull your all into anything, let along everything.

I have been training hard for my charity triathlon recently; the pace is steadily picking up, and it suddenly dawned on me that with that and daily blogging I wasn’t going to have a lot of time for my friends and family. Not particularly ‘year of the yes‘ friendly, hey!?

Whilst I am not a sporty person, the triathlon is incredibly important to me because I am doing it in honour of someone that I love very much. Which led me to the conclusion that it would be my beloved blog that might have to take a back seat over the next couple of months, to give me some time to focus on other things and really live the year of the yes.

So I am taking a break! I don’t know how long it will be for yet, but I hope to be back in the summer when I have a little more time on my hands again…and then I can share with you some of the exciting things I have been up to.

There is also a lot of behind the scenes things that I want to do to improve the blog, and this will give me lots more time to do that…so when I am back Aphrodite’s World will be even bigger and better than before.

In the meantime, I will be sharing some of the posts that I haven’t had the chance to shout about on social media channels….and there’s lots more to read if you want to take a look around, browse the categories above or check out the albums on my Facebook page.

I still plan to be very active on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr so head on over there to see what I am up to.

I will also still be sharing my regular book reviews on, so keep your eyes peeled for some book recommendations! And I hope to do some other guest blogging along the way as well… So you will still be hearing lots from me.

See you in the summer, when the sun is shining, we all have a glass of Pimms in hand and everything seems rosy (there’s nothing like a bit of positive thinking, is there)!?

Love, Emma x

Independent Businesses: a sweet treat from Chateau Dessert

You’ll have got the general gist by now, I like my food. And in particular, I have a sweet tooth. That might help explain the afternoon tea obsession that I have despite not liking tea. On occasion I will indulge in the sweet treats minus the savoury entree.

Which would explain why I had a sudden craving for cupcakes whilst visiting a friend in Chiswick and demanded that we dealt with the craving immediately. Off we all trooped up the high street when we came across Chateau Dessert. This wasn’t a cupcake shop, it was a veritable treasure trove of delicious delights.

Book Review: The Strangler Vine by M. J. Carter

Today’s book review is something that I would perhaps not have picked myself based on the subject of the book, but would certainly have been attracted to based on the cover.

I know, I know, you should judge a book for a cover, but when they are this darn pretty it is pretty difficult…

Recipe: melt in your mouth curry courtesy of Total Greek Yoghurts

I am always keen to try new recipes, so when the lovely team from Total Greek Yoghurts got in touch to find out if I wanted to try out new culinary delights incorporating yoghurt I was eager to give it a go and #TryTotal. Not only is it a lighter alternative but it is a fantastic way to make dishes a little more creamy…

I trawled through the recipe pages and opted for the Butter Chicken recipe, one of my favourites.

Equipped with my Total cooking box, I set to work on whipping up a Friday evening curry night…

Afternoon tea: The Wolseley London

My afternoon tea obsession seems to be catching. Now when I catch-up with friends, whether it is my school friends or uni friends, the activities normally involve some kind of afternoon tea indulgence.

That’s probably not surprising to you given the amount of appearances that this delicious afternoon treat makes on these golden sparkly pages.

Today I have a particularly plush (but particularly delicious) one to share with you. In early March, whilst visiting our friend Sam in the big smoke we decided to take advantage of a seemingly bargain afternoon tea at the Wolseley.
